“Technique” VSC Challenge #22

Good morning crafters!!! Time for another fun VSC challenge for the month. For the month of April we are showing you our favorite techniques. My problem is that I don’t just have one, I have a few but the main technique that I will talk about today is watercoloring. Recently Nicole of Sweet Designzz sent me my first set of watercolor pencils. She is such an awesome friend always thinking of others. Thanks Nicole!!! I couldn’t wait to get started. I had to do a bit of research first and also purchase some watercolor paper. I bought a small pad of paper at michaels which came with 10 sheets for like $3 bucks. It wasn’t one of the heaviest paper but it was ok. Next I had to find out what was the best type of ink to use for my stamp but unfortunately I only had momento black ink. Even though it was a fast drying ink it took a few minutes to completely dry. The best to use are ones that are fast drying and also meant for watercoloring. On the back of the ink it will say that It can be used for watercoloring like versamark fine ink.
I have taken a few photos of the process

Here are the watercolor pencils. I also used a brush pen.

For the skin color I used Golden Rod

Just like you would color with copics I did the same with the pencils and used two different colors close in color family

Embellishments used are our new glitter and Poppy sweet dot sets which you can purchase here. I also used some May arts ric rac ribbon also avail in the shop.

The other techniques I used was adding  acetate wings and I also made a sequins pocket. I will probably do another post of how I did those two techniques.

Ok so now it is time to head on over to our challenge blog and show us your techiques for a chance to win a $20 gift certificate to our online store. Also don’t forget to stop by our Dt’s page for more info on the process of their fave techniques.

I’m so excited about these beautiful sets and I have some cards I made using the dots. The first card I used our new Gold and Silver glitter set. I used the mini size as rain drops and I really love how this came out. The image is from Some Odd Girls (Brella Fairy). For the second card I used a blue glitter dot from our glitter set and a mustard yellow and cherry red from our poppy set. I love how the dots matched the colors of the image. The camera is a stamp from Lawn Fawns new stamp set “#awesome which is available in my shop. I also used the “Say cheese stamp set and cut for the Polaroid.

New C.C. Design stamps and more

Good afternoon crafters! Today I want to share with you a sweet card I made using one of the new C.C.Design stamps available in the shop. I used Lucy with a cross to make this precious Easter card. When I first saw this stamp I just fell in love with it and couldn’t wait to color her in. I used my copic markers to color her in and added some glossy accents to the cross. I used a pink polka dot paper for the background from stampin up and bazzill white cardstock as the base. I also embellished the card with some wine colored washi tape(avail in the shop) and some paper flowers. For the cloud background I used the Bev Rochester cloud template with stampin up bashful blue ink.

New adventure

So I have been wanting to do this post for a while but really haven’t had a chance to sit down and get it all out but I think I waited long enough.
If you follow me on Instagram then you have seen the pouches I have recently made. Since I was a little girl I have always wanted to learn how to use a sewing machine. My grandmother had one but she had stopped using hers for a long while. My mother has always sewn by hand including our halloween outfits and she never learned how to use a machine. In the past couple of years I had purchased a few mini and handheld sewing machines just to try it out but had no luck with them. Now because of YouTube and all the wonderful people who have uploaded some amazing tutorials I finally got the courage to get a full size sewing machine. The only problem was the money. Well once I told my mother about how I wanted to get a sewing machine she surprised me and bought one for me as well as herself. I was sooo excited and grateful and I couldn’t wait to have my very own machine. I was also excited that we would both be able to learn together.
It has been a dream of mine to be able to sew and I have always wanted to share my creations with others. For christmas I decided that I would sew zippered pouches for my cousins as gifts and after posting them on Instagram I had such wonderful responses. That’s when I started my line of pouches made from beautiful coordinating designer fabrics. It has been such an amazing experience selling my pouches and the support and love I received from my fellow instagram has encouraged me to pursue my dream.
As of right now my pouches will be under the name of V’s sweet ideas but might be changing it soon so watch out for some more upcoming news. I am also just selling them on Instagram but will most likely be adding them to my shop
I do want to share just a few of the pouches I have made with you and if you would like to purchase your very own pouch then you can follow me on Instagram

Just some info on my pouches:
Each one is made with lots of love and care. I also use designer fabric and line with a coordinating design. interface is also added for stability. I top it off with a lovely coordinating zipper.
The standard size is approx. 8 x 4 but feel free to contact me if you have a custom size.
You can contact me through email at Vanessa@vssweetideas.com if you have any questions. Thank you!

“Kids Theme” VSC Challenge #21

Good morning everyone!!!! Its March 1st so that means we have a brand new challenge going on at our challenge blog. We also have a new sponsor this month.

Being that it’s my son’s birthday this month I thought a “kids theme” challenge would be perfect. My son loves to receive handmade cards on his birthday. I think maybe that’s my fault lol. But my mother and his God mother have always made him a card and mailed it to him.

For this challenge our sponsor A day for Daisies has generously donated some images for us to use and there are just so many beautiful images to choose from. I chose a girl with wings with falling hearts. (Don’t worry this is not for my son lol. I am making him a special one) I just thought this image was beautiful and would be perfect for a child to brighten up their day.

Here is some info on our sponsor

ADFD PRIZE: ADFD will provide a 12$ gift card to the shop at www.adayfordaisies.com (that’s equal to 3 images of  choice) to the winner. Please send the winners name and email address to tammy@adayfordaisies.com and I will send them their Gift Certificate.
